Heather LaPlante has owned and operated The Cheese Shop for over 30 years. In her first year of business, the business suffered a fire at the original location on Hunter St. The business moved to 158 Brock St. and has seen a growing customer base each year since the move.

The Cheese Shop is an ongoing sponsor for local minor hockey and minor soccer. Regularly donates food to the local men and women shelters. Caterer of choice for many local businesses (both school boards, local and area funeral homes, Five Counties Children's Centre, Ventra Plastics, Kawartha Credit Union)
